Spring is a wonderful time to allow your toddler a little more freedom and let him have some new experiences.
Winter seems like it drags on forever when you have an active toddler in the house. There are relatively few places you go during the winter that have toddler friendly indoor activities, but spring opens up so many fun opportunities. Toddlers are entertained by very simple things and enjoy being allowed to explore and play at their own pace. Toddler Friendly ParksMany cities have several great outdoor playgrounds to choose from, and most toddlers would be thrilled to explore them all. Make it a goal to explore all the parks in your area as the weather warms up. Your toddler will love all of the new experiences and it will be wonderful for his large motor skills. Many studies have proven that toddlers who are active and understand where their own body fits in space do much better at math and science down the road, so help set your toddler up for a brighter future by allowing him to play and explore while he is young. Toddler Friendly Splash PoolsLocal pools often have a toddler swim area or splash pool that are so much fun as the weather gets warmer. Splash pools are often relatively inexpensive to join and they are a great place to meet for play groups or some socializing with other moms of toddlers. Setting up a toddler pool in your backyard is a wonderful free entertainment option. If the weather is still too cool for swimming, toddlers love to run through the sprinklers in the backyard. Toddler Friendly Walking TrailsWalking is a great way to exercise with your toddler and encourages healthy habits that will last a lifetime. Toddlers enjoy going for walks in a stroller or wagon as the weather begins to warm up. The fresh air is a nice change after months of stale indoor air during the winter. Toddlers enjoy walking with you for short distances and it is great exercise for them and a wonderful way to ensure a long naptime when you get home. Turn your walk into a nature walk by bringing along a paper bag and encouraging your toddler to collect leaves, sticks, and rocks as you walk. Toddler Friendly Outdoor ActivitiesThe simplest activities are often the most fun for toddlers who are experiencing the world for the first time. Take advantage of warmer spring weather by teaching your toddler how to ride a tricycle. Blow bubbles and try and catch them with a net. Create sidewalk masterpieces with sidewalk chalk. Finger painting is fun for toddlers but much more enjoyable for mom if it happens outside. Make your day exciting by eating lunch outside and creating a quick picnic. Toddlers do not need expensive activities or complicated games to enjoy spring. Enjoy the simple things in life with your toddler by spending time outside as the weather gets warmer in the spring. Both you and your toddler will enjoy the change after a long winter and you will create wonderful memories for your child.
